Our philosophy

Building a trusting and genuine connection with each client is the foundation of making counselling a worthwhile experience. Each individual's needs are taken into account and the flow of each session is adapted to suit what works best. Some clients may have different needs when it comes to sensory experiences or preferences in how they communicate. Sessions can range from utilising traditional talk-based therapies to sessions that incorporate role play, movement and opportunities to use sensory objects. A client's interests and strengths are an important part of their engagement in counselling and we can work together in creative ways to ensure that counselling goals are realistically able to be transferred to their everyday lives.

I am a passionate advocate of the neurodiverse-affirming movement and am constantly striving to recognise ways in which I can continue learning from and supporting neurodivergent individuals and educating others in turn. I am an LGBTQI+ ally and all members of the Queer community will be treated with the same kindness and respect as every other amazing being.

Assessments

Assessments are conducted to assist with identifying:

  • Autism
  • Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia)
  • Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder
  • Memory Concerns, and
  • Giftedness

If an assessment results in a diagnosis, assistance can be provided with applications for NDIS or disability support funding, with special exam conditions or SEAS applications.

A thorough written report and recommendations are provided at the conclusion to all assessments. I am happy to liaise with school staff and other healthcare professionals in order to ensure that recommendations are realistic and are being implemented in a consistent way in all domains of   the individual's life.
